‘Betrayal of the Soul’ is the powerful new novel by author and poet Mal Foster. It’s the story of the erosion of one person’s behavioural values and sense of purpose, culminating in a period of self-doubt and self-degradation as the protagonist, Johnny Tinder, navigates life’s unpredictable journey.

Johnny Tinder is a forty-something former local journalist with aspirations of becoming a private investigator. However, before he starts his new career, he perhaps unwisely decides to track down his old flame, Catherine, ten years after they split—someone he still regards as the 'love of his life'.

First, though, Johnny must confront questions about his own morality and the true reason he believes his doomed relationship with Catherine failed. As the months tick by, he believes he is close to finding his lost love, yet fears she will reject him the moment he tries to re-enter her life. In a harrowing twist, he stumbles upon a situation much, much worse than that!
